Another October Birthday
(October 29, 2009)
Today, our middle child, and oldest boy, turns 4. I still remember when he was born he had to stay in the hospital for a few days to be treated for jaundice. They were also afraid he might have a hearing problem because he failed his hearing test. Well, it turns out 8 other kids in the hospital failed their hearing tests because the hospital's equipment was failing. I proved to myself that his hearing was fine the day I sneezed and startled him. From across the hospital room I saw tiny arms and legs flailing after my sneeze and I couldn't help but laugh.
Now, at age 4, his hearing is fine. It's his sense of pain that is a little dull. He routines runs head-first into hard objects, laughs, and then gets up and runs the other way. I think he has that Homer Simpson Syndrome, where there's the extra layer of cushioning around his brain or something. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Stripe!
