NaNoWriMo
(November 01, 2011)
As if I don't have enough to do already I have decided to do NaNoWriMo this year. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, where participants attempt to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November.
The reason I'm doing this is because I'm one of those creative types who whenever I see people doing cool stuff I just have to do it too. Over the past few years I've made friends with several authors, so I figure it was just a matter of time before I broke down and wrote something myself. And the reason I'm doing it now is because apparently the premise I've come up with is extremely similar to the premise of an upcoming Pixar film. So I figure it's now or never.
I told my Spice Rack subscribers all about this plan a while ago and even outlined my story for them. All I'm willing to say at the moment about this project is that it's going to be a comedy. I want to see if an Airplane style spoof works in novel form. I suspect not, but I think it'll be fun to try.
I also don't know what I'm going to do with the finished product, assuming I'm able to finish it. I doubt it will be anything that a publisher is interested in, but if it comes out decent maybe I'll podcast it in the spring or something.
Wish me luck!
