"Writes some of the funniest Hip Hop lyrics I've ever heard." - Dr. Demento

Devo Spice is a nerdy comedy rapper from New Jersey who has been called "the red-headed stepson of 'Weird Al' Yankovic and Eminem." Over funky beats with crisp, clear vocals Devo raps about technology, Doctor Who, life's daily frustrations, and even ridiculous suggestions sent in by his fans.

Devo Spice performs regularly across the country at science fiction conventions, music clubs, comedy clubs, and any place that has a sense of humor. He has shared the stage with Dr. Demento, Psychostick, MC Lars, Jonathan Coulton, Paul and Storm, and many others. The live show features videos and animations synchronized with the music resulting in a hilarious show that goes over very well with a variety of audiences.

Ten #1 Songs

Devo Spice has become a popular artist on The Dr. Demento Show, the weekly comedy show that launched "Weird Al" Yankovic's career. Devo has had a total of ten #1 songs on the show and many more Top 10 and Funny Five hits. In 2007—while still performing as "Sudden Death," the comedy-rap group he founded—Devo held the #1, #2, and #4 positions for most requested songs of the year, and was a guest vocalist on song #5. In 2019 Devo had his third #1 song of the year with "Spider Verses," and in 2020 "WAPC (Wet-Ass Pussy Cat)" hit the #1 slot for August. That plus some other appearances made it the 4th most requested song of 2020.

In all, Devo has had 18 songs appear in the year-end Funny 25 countdown, three at #1; most recently, "Yo! Sam" snuck onto the 2023 countdown at #25.

In 2025, on the last ever Dr. Demento Show, Devo Spice was announced as the 9th most requested artist in the history of the show, between Tom Lehrer (8) and Monty Python (10).

The Doctor Who Album

In 2014 Devo Spice celebrated the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who by releasing a concept album called I Am The Doctor which features one song per incarnation of The Doctor along with the title track. The album features cameo appearances by several actors from the original run of the show, including Peter Davison (Doctor #5), Sophie Aldred ("Ace"), and Katy Manning ("Jo Grant").

His Latest Works

In 2024 Devo Spice released an album of cover songs that he has produced over the years for various reasons, plus three new songs exclusively for this album. On it, Devo does a chiptunes cover of "It's All About the Pentiums" by "Weird Al" Yankovic, "Tortuga" by Alestorm, and an updated 2024 version of "What's Up, Spock" by the great Luke Ski. This album also includes covers of "New Math" by Tom Lehrer, "The Laundromat of Sin" by Worm Quartet, and "The Big Five-0" by Doodoo Wah.

In 2019 Devo Spice released The Anarchist's Jokebook which includes several songs that were hits on The Dr. Demento Show, including "Nothin' but Truth," "Gravity Is Stupid," and "Spider Verses," which was the most requested song of 2019.

In 2025 Devo Spice released The Ridiculous Christmas EP, a 4-song collection of ridiculous Christmas songs suggested by his fans. This includes a parody of "Stan" by Eminem called "Santa" and a sequel to the classic novelty song "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas."
