Returning to the studio with a new batch of sketches, Devo Spice, the great Luke Ski, Shoebox of Worm Quartet, and Chris Mezzolesta of Power Salad—collectively known as Cirque du So What?—recorded so much new material that they decided to spread it out over two albums.
The material was spread evenly between this album, and Volume 2: Additional Squid, with more fake commercials, entries into the Guest the Context series, and meta jokes about coming up with new sketches.
