You may have noticed this site no longer looks like it was designed in 2003. That's because the 2003 design is finally gone! Welcome to the new and improved DevoSpice.com!
What's New?
Music Player - At the bottom of this page you'll see a music player. Go ahead and hit play and it will play the currently loaded song. Want to hear more songs? This month's Free Songs are listed on the right. Click "Listen Now" to hear those, or click the "More Songs" button for the other available free-to-download songs. Want to hear even more? Check out the Discography page for all my available albums and play any song from any of them.* And feel free to click around the site while the song is playing. It won't interrupt playback.
You can also listen to the latest episodes of my Podcasts right here on the site. On the left you will see links to listen to and download the latest episodes of The Insider, Manic Mondays, and The FuMPCast. The episodes will load right into the Player at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!
Search - Looking for a specific song, news item, or tour date? Enter your search in the field to the left and you'll be taken to a page that shows you all the relevant songs, albums, news stories, videos, tour dates, and even song lyrics. I'll be adding more functionality to the search feature in the future.
Videos - I have added a page to collect all my official Devo Spice videos together in one place. You can still view them all and more on my YouTube channel, but this keep everything together neatly.
History - An early version of the Sudden Death web site had a long "full history" page which explained everything I've done since the beginning (1986, for those keeping track). I wanted that back, but I couldn't find the old content, (I probably have it on an old floppy disk somewhere), so I wrote new content! The History page is basically a novella all about me. I'm planning to add photos to it in the future so it's not just a big wall of text.
Non-Music Stuff - I have added a section for my non-musical endeavors, such as my sketch-comedy group Cirque du So What, my Podcasts, Voice Work, and Art Work.
Modern Code Base - Gone are the tables within tables within tables within tables that made up the old site. This projects involved a complete re-engineering of the site from the ground up. It's all HTML5ified full of AJAXy goodness.
Mobile Responsive - Part of the re-engineering was to make sure the site worked on your phone. While the old site technically "worked" on your phone, it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. This should be much easier to use on your phone.
New Payment Method - I have integrated Braintree Payments into this web site to make checkout easier. Currently it accepts Paypal and credit cards, but I am also planning to accept Apple Pay and other forms of payments in the future.
What's Still to Come?
EPK - I will be creating an updated Electronic Press Kit as soon as I can get all the content together that I need for it.
Blog - I will be migrating all my old LiveJournal posts to this web site and will begin blogging again periodically.
Flesh Out and Updating the Content - And finally, there is still some content missing from the site. Old song files, special albums (live and bonus albums), and other such content still needs to be added to the site. And things like old news stories will likely have some broken images that need to be updated. I will be taking care of all this in the coming months as time allows.
And of course there is still news, tour dates, a bio, an online store, and all the regular features we had on the old site.
Come in. Look around. Listen to some music, and have some fun! And if something doesn't appear to be working as it should drop me a line and let me know.
*Some sound files for older songs aren't loaded yet. If a song doesn't play that's why. I'm working on it!
